Model ITC-CC-Series Automatic Work Cell

ITC Aerospace Division has designed and built a complete fastening system for "hands free" part production. The work cell incorporates an automatic drill and rivet machine, a CNC part positioner and an automatic, vibratory fastener distribution system.

The part is mounted in the fixture framework at three tooling points and the part program initiated. The CNC system automatically positions the part to each hole location. The drill and rivet machine clamps the part, drills the proper size hole, applies sealant deburrs and installs the fastener. The lower tooling turntable is also CNC positioned according to the part program.

The machine applies upset forces up to 16,000 pounds. The ITC Aerospace Division Automatic Fastener System (AFS) feeds a variety of fasteners. The operator controls for the entire cell are housed in one roll-around cabinet.
